Rolex, Tudor and fake Patek Philippe postpone the presentation of new products
It seems that in the next few months – due to the global pandemic coronavirus – we will not see what new watch manufacturers have prepared for 2020.
According to the Hodinkee portal, Rolex, Tudor and Patek Philippe have officially confirmed that the presentation of their new products will not take place in the first half of 2020, expected by everyone, only later. When? It seems that two scenarios are possible.
In the first, all watch premieres (of these three manufacturers) prepared for 2020 will be postponed by less than 12 months and we will see them during the Basel fair planned for January 2021. The second brands will manage to find a way to do it at the end of this year. Each option has its consequences – especially in the face of fake Patek Philippe a letter sent yesterday to the Baselworld trade fair organizer.
In a letter addressed to the MCH Group (Baselworld organizer), the chairman of the exhibitors committee Hubert J. du Plessix refers to the company’s policy that does not want to return the exhibitor brands paid for BW 2020 funds. For many, especially small producers, this money may decide to be or not to be. At the moment, brands have two options to choose from.
Option 1:
85% of the amount paid to Baselworld 2020 will be allocated to fees for Baselworld 2021,
the remaining 15% will be allocated by the organizer to cover the costs related to Baselworld 2020.
Option 2:
30% of the amount will be refunded to brands
40% transferred to Baselworld 2021,
MCH Group will use 30% to cover costs incurred in connection with Baselworld 2020.
Returning to the merits, it is worth noting that du Plessix is the person responsible at Rolex for investment and logistics. Therefore, a seemingly delicate letter in which it says that a refund would be “an elegant solution and the best way to encourage exhibitors to participate in next year’s Baselworld” can also be considered a kind of pressure on the MCH Group. The letter also includes the eloquent sentence: “Otherwise, we are afraid that this will be the end of Baselworld, especially since the January deadline is not what the jewelry industry is thinking (ed .: in the US – at about the same time – the Tucson fair is taking place Gem and Jewelry Show) and no coordination with Watches & Wonders (SIHH). ”
Personally, I am able to imagine a scenario in which Rolex, Tudor and Patek Philippe present (successfully) their new products at the end of 2020 and resign from participation in Baselworld 2021. This could actually be the end of this event that has been taking place for over 100 years.
On the other hand, standing on the side of weaker and smaller watch replica watches manufacturers (for which applause is due) and a possible win in the “dispute” with the MCH Group may cause that these brands will take part in the January fair, leaving in their history – with new products for 2020 – empty field.
Rolex, a company that has been showing mainly slightly modified versions of its well-known models for many years (usually only a few novelties) can successfully afford a gap year. Ideally, if at that time it was possible to shorten the queue lists for Daytona, GMT-Master II or Submariner models a bit. www.hi-replicawatches.com
As for the other brands, some of them have already announced presentations of their new products in the near future. Watches will be shown mainly during various ‘live’ events – on the internet. Of course, we will inform about them on CH24.PL.
